Re "Republicans air dirty linen in federal attorney ousters" (March 7)
Since the Bush administration has come into power and GOP rule has come to mean the push for privatization, the Republicans can't understand why the conflict-of-interest law should apply to them or "The Decider." All the fired U.S. attorneys had worked on cases that exposed GOP corruption or in some way denied a Republican win in court.
One of the replacements, Timothy Griffin, was Karl Rove's assistant. Griffin also was the hidden hand denying 70,000 black and Hispanic Democratic voters in Florida's 2004 election. Hmmm. Could it be there was something political in the firing of the eight U.S. attorneys that has set a new precedent?
